Transport Golfers to St Andrews
Golfers travelling to St Andrews are able to book their shuttle or private transfers from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee Airport. All transfers include the transport of golf bags and luggage.
It may sound sacrilegious but you can play a great golfing week in St Andrews without playing the Old Course. The New and Jubilee courses are on-site as is the world class Kingsbarns course to the east of town.
The Old Course
The Old Course at St Andrews is a must-play for any golfer visiting the birthplace of the game. However, don’t feel like you have to book the course as part of a premium package to guarantee you a time – you can enter the ballot for The Old Course every day it’s open to the public (except Sunday).
Golfers can also play other incredible courses in the area such as the New and Jubilee courses or Kingsbarns, which is a stunning modern course with a classic links layout. A free Shuttle Bus runs between the town based courses and practice facilities and many local clubs offer golf clubs for hire as well as caddies. It’s also possible to book a range of golfing activities with PGA qualified professionals and lessons.
The New Course
If cities were graded on walkability, St Andrews would score a 15. Easily accessible from hotels and the courses, you can stroll through neighborhoods of single-family homes and apartments while admiring historic gates, like the West Port Gate on South Street. You can also pass the ruins of Blackfriars Chapel and bend a knee at Old Tom Morris’s gravesite.
The New Course is a great compliment to the Old, with tight fairways lined with gorse. Built in 1895, the New is a little longer and more difficult than the Old with a handful of holes that test your ability to stay on the greens. If you have a spare hour, consider playing the Jubilee Course too, which was designed for women and beginners. A challenging course, it gets more wind than the other two downtown courses and is a true endurance test.
The Jubilee Course
The Jubilee Course often takes a back seat to the Old and New but don’t be fooled. It is a fantastic golf course, a favorite of the University of St Andrews who play many club and team matches here.
It’s a long par three with bunkers on both sides making putting a challenge. The smart tee shot is down the middle of the fairway which will open up the green for your approach shot.
A fleet of Mercedes vehicles are on hand throughout your stay to transport you from the hotel to each course and then back again. A St Andrews for Golf PGA Professional agent will be on hand each day to coordinate the courses you want to play. This option allows you to maximise your time at The Home of Golf!
The Eden Course
St Andrews is one of the world’s most prestigious golf destinations, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. Whether you are travelling solo or in a group, we can provide you with the perfect vehicle for your visit to the Home of Golf.
Located near the sea, Eden’s sloping greens and odd tee shot angles require a strong strategy to score well. The course may not have the reputation of its neighbors, but it’s a tough challenge for any golfer.
The Castle Course
Located two miles east of St Andrews town centre, the Castle Course was opened in 2008 and has golfers excited to try the newest course in one of the world’s premier destinations. Its location is dramatic, perched on the cliffs overlooking the town of St Andrews and offering beautiful views over the North Sea and Angus coast.
Although the Castle course’s greens are a little crazy at times, many golfers enjoy playing it because of its uniqueness. The challenge lies in funneling your approach shots into the correct speed slots on each green.
